When you can't travel...

... due to the current Corona-situation, you can at least dream about travelling. And spend some time thinking about trips that was made in the past. Now its a perfect time to go through old images, and recap what you have experienced over the years.

I got the questions: "What is the best trip you have ever made? And the best hotel you stayed in?"

I had to answer: "I can not give you an answer on that". "Why not?", was the question back.

The reason is that it is difficult to compare. How can I compare a trip to New York city with vibrant restaurants and bars and shopping with a drive through Provence, staying at a small B&B and going to the weekend market? It's somehow not "fair". Both are fantastic, but in total different ways. But, some places gets more stuck and they leave that sweet taste. You come back to the images you stored in your mind over and over again. And if you are lucky you have collected some of these memories over the years.

So, when I can't travel I try to go through old images. Today I was "browsing" our Sardinia trip, that we made some years ago. We stayed at Hotel Su Gologone, nicely located in the nature. A quiet place, with a fantastic scenery, lovely rooms and heavenly food. If you are planning a trip to Sardinia, this is worth a stay or at least a meal in their great restaurant.

In Sardinia you drink wine from the grape cannonau, in the rest of the world the grape would go under the name Grenache. The wine is pretty heavy, and could have up to 15-16%, but the tannins are smooth. We enjoyed it a lot, especially to the grilled meat and the pasta dishes.

Geheimtip/Secret tip: In Porto Cervo we stumbled on a fantastic restaurant. Trattoria Patrizia. Here we had the best Scalloppine al Limone ever and a very tasty Pasta Carbonara. We went to this restaurant several times and the owner was a great host. For a good meal, in a nice atmosphere and with a view over the hill to the harbour, this is the place to visit.
